Due to space limitations, many files here at The World Wide Webb are
compressed. To use these files, you must decompress them once you've
downloaded them to your computer.
Just about everybody knows how to use, or at least has heard of, the PKZIP
archiver (files that end with .ZIP are PKZIP files). However, PKZIP is far
from the best archiver available. I use a lesser-known archiver called
"RAR", which far exceeds PKZIP in terms of compression performance, which
translates into much smaller files and smaller download times.
If you do not have a copy of RAR, I strongly urge you to download a copy
from this page. However, if a version is not available for your computer,
or you'd rather not go to the effort of learning a new program (this one's
easy!), ALL compressed files from The World Wide Webb are
available via email file attach. You simply email me with the filename and I
send it to you in uncompressed form (or compressed with PKZIP if you
prefer).
