Poetry And Power
"These 'Machine' Years"
Michael Knapp

metal calls me to war
followed by 'machine' men
trapped in this facade
chained to where i've been

angered by illusion
the insults that you scream
losing balance, 'tarnished'
gripped in a reality dream

These 'machine' years
what was i supposed to do?
you weren't there to keep me going
'unplugged from you'

s.u. lost the savor
liquid engineers claimed my mind
as for m.e., no comment
i'll just blame it all on time

then, was anything real?
the metal 'skin' that i shed
now, this new distraction
i feel like the living dead

These 'machine' years
what was i supposed to do?
you weren't there to keep me going
'unplugged from you'

what was i supposed to do?
'unplugged from you'

These 'machine' years
These 'machine' years
These 'machine' years
