A Review of "Sacrifice" by Michael Day
(who gave it 2 out of 10)
September 2nd 1996

I just received the Sacrifice CD this morning and have been listening to it all day at work. I like the faster beat of the songs but I'm a little worried about the direction in regards to the lyrics. I'm a Christian and I'm afraid I may have to abandon one of my favorite artist. If Gary really doesn't believe in a supreme power, why does he make so much of it? He describes his soul in "You Walk in My Soul", cries "Save My Soul" in "Scar", then says "I'll Kill Your God and Pray for Salvation" and "Don't Pray for My Soul" in "A Question of Faith". What is he trying to get at? Yes, I know he doesn't believe in God. Okay, I can live with that, but I can't see myself singing lyrics that might damn me to hell. I read the lyrics to one of the songs going to be released on "Exile" and it looks even worse. It might be the 1st Numan release that I have to refuse to buy. As you can tell I'm not happy with that. I've always loved Gary's music and hate to see things heading in this direction. I'm beginning to think he is doing it just to cause controversy and sell more records or to corrupt more people from the word of God. Thus my ranking of this album is a 2 out of 10 (without the lyrics 8 out of 10).
