A Question Of Faith

David Brezniak's Story

A Numan Fan Almost Since I Was In Diapers

My name is David P. Brezniak, 25. I have lived in Massachusetts, USA, all my life.

I first heard Gary Numan's "Cars" when I was around 8 or 9 years young. I was quite amazed at the sound, and how deep and rich the synthesizer sounds were. Being only around 8, it was real "neat", I thought. I waited until I saved up enough money, and went out and bought "The Pleasure Principle" on 8-track tape (remember those?). I couldn't play that tape enough! I even brought it to school with me, and our bus driver played it on the bus for me, and quite often! Around 3 years went by, and I found a copy of "Dance" on vinyl, of course I picked it up (only about 2 bucks). I took it home, played it, and although I was looking for Gary's style on TPP, I enjoyed the album. Soon after, I found "I, Assassin" and "Telekon" on tape. Both had similar but different sounds, of course. I played these 4 albums right up until 1989 or so, as I could never find any more releases! I never gave up, and finally...

BANG!! I found "New Anger" (UK "Metal Rhythm") and was quite impressed with Gary's new style, not realizing he had come out with more releases before that! I then found "The Skin Mechanic" and "Outland". I never heard anything live by Gary, so this was a real treat! "Outland" was quite different, though, but still I hung on!

Now I'm on the internet, and find tons of Gary's material! It has re-kindled the child in me, as I can't get enough! Gary has always meant a great deal in my life, even in bad times, he lifted me up. I would give anything just to sit in a quiet restaraunt with Gary (over Coke, of course, no coffee) and just talk and see what Gary thinks about, how he comes up with such great works of art. I will be a loyal fan for life, no matter which path Gary may take, as that is what is great about him...He does as he feels, and magic always happens!
