A Question Of Faith

Dan Coffey's Story

My name is Dan Coffey and hail from Princeton NJ USA, and consequently on what my friends and i used to refer to as being on 'the Joy Circuit', or, a Numanoid, as it is called today. Not to bore anyone with a drawn out story, but the evolution of my admiration for Numan is quite simple. Pleasure Principle was released in the summer of '79 when i was just 11. I, like many Americans at the time fell in love with the slowly progressive electronic age, from which 'Cars' came out on top of. I frantically bought every Gary Numan song that i could, including imports and such. After Telekon, Gary took a turn for 'techno-jazz' which kinda turned me off at the time, but stuck with him due to the sheer brilliance in just about every lyric he penned. I along with many of my friends suffered through the period (mid eighties) in which it was embarrassing to be a Numan fan b/c everyone thought he was a 'one hit wonder' but his UK credits only need be viewed to truly make an American understand what Gary had done at such a young age. He had touched many different people in many different ways all around the world before some people of the same age had even graduated from college!! Today, despite the intense nostalgia of 15 plus albums, he still continues to push the envelope of musical horizons and artist workmanship. I truly respect him, his music, and appreciate the web set up to pay tribute to him....

favorite quote:"I turned off the pain, like I turned off you all, now theres only me" M.E.
